Illustrated are the main colours that I keep. Please note that I drew the pictures myself and so the images bear no relation to any standard whatsoever.
Zebra finches are very easy to keep and breed. They take up very little of you time (until you get completely obsessed like me) and are relatively quiet.

Diet: there is always a tube of seed attatched to the cage front. They are not particularly fussy about which sort of seeds they prefer but if you find a pile of a certain type when you clean them out, it may be advisable to change mix. Currently mine are on a mix which I made up with 6kg of Foreign finch mix, 6kg of mixed millets, 2kg Japanese millet and 2kg of panicum millet. This sounds complicated but mostly it is for the benefit of my other birds. Most of my zebra finches eat all of it but a few will leave canary seed.
There is also a coop cup containing dry eggfood inside every cage. I was feeding the eggfood wet but changed due to time constraints. They seem to eat just as much and of course, there is much less wasted
To their water (and they MUST have water at all times) I add a variety of supplements, including Moor Gold, Calcivet, probiotics and a mixture of vitamins. These I add in varying amounts depending on the condition of the birds and whether they are breeding.
